Apple requested the recall of the 2-prong AC wall plug adapters that may split when touched and can trigger a threat of an electrical shock. The adapters were specifically manufactured for
Australia, Continental Europe, Korea, Brazil, New Zealand, Argentina, and the Continental Europe. They were included in the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit and were released together with the iOS
and Mac devices from 2003 – 2015.
Valuing customer safety, the company will exchange the afflicted plug adapters with a new, reformed adapter without cost.
To identify the affected wall plug adapter, look for the 4 or 5 characters on the inside slot (some do not have any characters) that attaches to an Apple power adapter. On the other hand, the reformed adapters have a 3-letter regional code in the slot, such as USA, KOR, EUR, AUS, or BRA.
The wall plug adapters specifically created for China, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and the United States are safe. Even the Apple USB power adapters are not dangerous.
